Here are 8 inspirational quotes to restore your faith in the world. Feel free to add them to your own arsenal of wisdom. And if there are some quotes that you especially love, don’t be afraid to share them in the comments section below!

1. Benjamin Franklin

Not only did this founding father invent bifocals, but Benjamin Franklin had a great mindset on life and what others can do to live in the present.

“Do not anticipate trouble, or worry about what may never happen. Keep in the sunlight.”

2. Confucius

Founded in the belief of personal growth and the power of social relationships, Confucius has a tremendous impact on Chinese philosophy and an overall way of life.

“The expectations of life depend upon diligence; the mechanic that would perfect his work must first sharpen his tools.”

3. Bertrand Russell

As one of the most prominent philosophers throughout the mid-1900s, Bertrand Russell touched a variety of subjects with profound thought and consideration for the human condition. For some extra enlightenment from Russell, check out his book, “The Conquest of Happiness.”

“What is wanted is not the will to believe but the wish to find out, which is the exact opposite.”

4. Joshua Loth Liebman

Best known for his book, “Peace of Mind,” Joshua Loth Leibman was an American rabbi who died at a young age. However, his words still ring true today and his impact on the world is timeless.

“We are the carriers of health and disease—either the divine health of courage and nobility or the demonic disease of hate and anxiety.”

5. Henry David Thoreau

From his time on Walden Pond to being one of the foremost transcendentalist leaders of the 19th century, Henry David Thoreau was an incredible dreamer and proponent for civility in America.

“If one advances confidently in the directions of his dreams, and endeavors to live the life which he has imagined, he will meet with a success unexpected in common hours.”

6. Stephen Vincent Benet

As I said before, poetry is a huge passion of mine, and one of the best American poets of all-time is Stephen Vincent Benet. He is a Pulitzer Prize winner and even has his own U.S. postal stamp. He had some genius thoughts about the world, too…

“Our earth is but a small star in a great universe. Yet of it we can make, if we choose, a planet unvexed by war, untroubled by hunger or fear, undivided by senseless distinctions of race, color or theory.”

7. Jawaharlal Nehru

He was the first Prime Minister of India and was a major activist for Indian independence at a tumultuous time in history. Jawaharlal Nehru always took a neutral stance in foreign affairs, which explains his drive for efficiency and progress.

“Loyal and efficient work in a great cause, even though it may not be immediately recognized, ultimately bears fruit.”

8. Ernest Hemingway

Arguably my favorite writer, and certainly my favorite novelist, Ernest Hemingway was a powerhouse talent who used simple sentences and raw truth to tell poignant stories. He had his ups and downs as a man, but always tried to live truthfully and courageously in the face of hardships.

“So far, about morals, I know only that what is moral is what you feel good after and what is immoral is what you feel bad after.”
