For anyone who may be feeling downtrodden by COVID-19, and now, the widespread protests and actions against hate and injustice happening around the world, some inspirational words can make a big difference.
I’m a huge reader and lover of poetry and quotes, and here, I’m happy to share some insight from leaders that have always helped me find peace in difficult times.

1. Benjamin Franklin
Not only did this founding father invent bifocals, but Benjamin Franklin had a great mindset on life and what others can do to live in the present.

2. Confucius
Founded in the belief of personal growth and the power of social relationships, Confucius has a tremendous impact on Chinese philosophy and an overall way of life.

3. Bertrand Russell

4. Joshua Loth Liebman
Best known for his book, “Peace of Mind,” Joshua Loth Leibman was an American rabbi who died at a young age. However, his words still ring true today and his impact on the world is timeless.

5. Henry David Thoreau
From his time on Walden Pond to being one of the foremost transcendentalist leaders of the 19th century, Henry David Thoreau was an incredible dreamer and proponent for civility in America.

6. Stephen Vincent Benet
As I said before, poetry is a huge passion of mine, and one of the best American poets of all-time is Stephen Vincent Benet. He is a Pulitzer Prize winner and even has his own U.S. postal stamp. He had some genius thoughts about the world, too…

7. Jawaharlal Nehru
He was the first Prime Minister of India and was a major activist for Indian independence at a tumultuous time in history. Jawaharlal Nehru always took a neutral stance in foreign affairs, which explains his drive for efficiency and progress.
“Loyal and efficient work in a great cause, even though it may not be immediately recognized, ultimately bears fruit.”
8. Ernest Hemingway
Arguably my favorite writer, and certainly my favorite novelist, Ernest Hemingway was a powerhouse talent who used simple sentences and raw truth to tell poignant stories. He had his ups and downs as a man, but always tried to live truthfully and courageously in the face of hardships.
