Joe, Joebrise on Fiverr, is an artist who lives in Tarragona, a coastal town close to Barcelona, Spain. He manages a shared workspace that includes other entrepreneurs, including illustrators, photographers, translators, and developers. During his free periods, he works on his Fiverr Gigs®. Here is Joe’s Fiverr story.
My Fiverr Journey
I discovered Fiverr when my nephew showed me an amazing logo he bought. I was so impressed. I visited the site and found that Fiverr sellers didn’t just offer logos, they offer everything!
I live in a small town with very few opportunities for finding work as a designer, so offering Gigs online made a lot of sense. I published my first Gig, “I will retouch a photograph of your pet as a stylish painting,” and I think I hit a bullseye because within two weeks I had my first order.
In the beginning, all my Gigs were inspired by what I liked to buy, and I quickly advanced to a Level 2 Seller. I then started targeting my services at startups and freelancers. Buyers launching a new company typically can’t afford an original design or logo, but they still want something personal with good quality. So I created my logo Gig to fit that need.
I’m always working to grow my business. I respond to buyer requests, constantly update my Gigs, and am active on social networks, including Facebook, Twitter and my own blog. My typical buyers are companies in search of a fresh logo, not clipart. One interesting buyer I had was a family living on a sailboat. They asked me to draw a logo for their family blog – they loved the result.
I also love buying Gigs on Fiverr. My favorite Gig is I will design you a retro style poster or flyer. I even met the designer, Artworking, in person during a Fiverr event in London.
Tips for New Sellers
When new sellers ask me for advice, I usually direct them to the Fiverr forum, which is always very helpful. In general my advice is simple: You’ve got to set a goal for yourself. Search for popular Gigs and then come up with a version in your own style. If you create a completely new Gig, make sure it is attractive, innovative, professional and relatively inexpensive – though be sure to include extras.
The Impact of Fiverr
Earning money on Fiverr is like magic. Today, it makes up 30 to 40 percent of my annual income, and it is allowing me to save money to make a dream come true, traveling to Japan! I love the culture and the comic books, Manga! I’ve been dreaming of going to Japan for a long time. I’m sure I will come back with a new Gig idea!
Thanks to Fiverr, I’ve discovered talents I didn’t know I had. Fiverr has offered me the opportunity to share my talent, and helped me become a more collaborative person. I even promoted Fiverr at a public event attended by about 5,000 people. Maybe my future is promoting Fiverr!
