Super Seller Websitevideo: A Career is Born

Ron, known on Fiverr as Websitevideo, creates high-quality, professional spokesperson videos for a range of uses, including content marketing, training, PowerPoint slides, sketchpads, and much more. Always striving to exceed his customers’ expectations has earned him a loyal and constantly expanding customer base. Which is why we’re pleased to congratulate Ron on becoming our latest Super Seller!

Ron’s Fiverr Journey

I live in Baltimore, Md., about 60 miles north of Washington, DC. For eight years I’ve been the full-time director of an academic program at the University of Baltimore. I also teach part-time at the graduate level, both in the classroom and online.

I bumped into Fiverr about three years ago. At that time, the Gigs weren’t as focused on business services, so I put up a Gig where I would review any beer for $5. I had no sales, got discouraged, and quit Fiverr for a while. About nine months later, I saw video testimonials start popping up. I didn’t want to do testimonials unless I actually used the product or service, so I put up a Gig where I would explain any concept using a white board. But when I started getting orders, I realized that the whiteboard Gig was way too complicated, so I decided to scale back.

That’s when I found my sweet spot. In my job as an academic director and online professor, I had to create videos for students. I received a lot of positive feedback, so I figured I’d use my strength as a teacher and presenter. I created a video spokesperson Gig, which is still my most popular Gig.

Since then, my business has grown organically on Fiverr and through a few outside venues. I belong to a number of online message boards and Facebook groups. I contribute to the conversation, and though I don’t explicitly promote my Fiverr Gig, I make sure there’s a link to it in my signature.

Fiverr is also a great resource for business services. Since I also do some blogging and Internet marketing, I purchase a range of services, including logo designs, logo reveals, copywriting, voiceovers, and WordPress fixes. I think the best Gig I’ve found is MiaCarter’s website content writing service. She’s an excellent writer, creates amazing content, and is a joy to work with.

Advice for Newcomers

I believe there are many specific things a newcomer to Fiverr can do to maximize the opportunity to be successful, so I’ve written a post for the Fiverr user forum. You can see it here.

The Impact of Fiverr

Fiverr has made a big impact on my life. Today, a significant portion of my income is through Fiverr. It has enabled me to send my daughter to private school, pay down some debt, and even save a bit for the down payment on the house I purchased in 2014. It also helped me buy some cool new toys, such as a new camera and laptop, which has also helped my Fiverr business! I’m hoping that very soon I’ll be making the transition to do my Fiverr business (and a few other side ventures) full-time.

I truly believe the Gig economy is going to be the way small businesses get things done. Small business owners need to focus on what they do best and outsource those tasks that drain their time and energy. However, in the past, a small business couldn’t afford a high-quality logo or a professionally designed website. Now, they can obtain quality business services at a fraction of the cost.

Fiverr has been a blessing. I enjoy the Fiverr community. I enjoy providing excellent quality video services at an affordable price. I love hearing about a client whose product launch was a huge success and they tell me that it is in part due to the video I created for them. It’s a joy to see my customers excited about the work I do for them.
