The Impact of Fiverr: Doing it His Way With Fiverr

Dan, Dtongsports on Fiverr, is living his dream of working for himself as the producer and host of a radio podcast. Today, thanks to his popularity, Dan can advertise and promote your content to thousands and thousands of listeners and through his social network. But none of this might have happened without Fiverr!

Dtonsports Fiverr Journey

I started my podcast in 2009. I was working as a bartender at the time, but the bar shut down suddenly, so I did side jobs for a bit and eventually got a job with a car rental agency. They soon wanted me to take an assistant management position, but I preferred a steady part-time position that gave me the security of a job and the flexibility to keep podcasting.

In April of 2011, I was searching the Internet for cheap ways to advertise my podcast and website when I discovered Fiverr. I thought it was genius! I felt a connection to the vision of Fiverr because it was striving for growth and so was I, and with Fiverr, I could apply all my passion and energy towards something that would yield results while offering me the freedom and creative control to do it my way. I soon listed my first Gig®, which was advertising a website or business on my podcast for just $5.

Over the years, I have confronted several challenges. I broke up with my girlfriend, moved from Georgia to Colorado, quit my job, and worked part-time again. I got by thanks to Fiverr and eventually took another corporate job, this time in furniture sales. But within six months, they wanted me to go into management again. I refused two different positions before quitting.

Some would say this was not a smart move. I say, I have only one life. If I didn’t do it then, then when? I knew if I dedicated more time to Fiverr and my business that eventually it would take care of me. I created a 5-year vision of where I wanted to be and where I thought Fiverr would be…and I’m right on track, thanks to Fiverr.

Fiverr not only provided revenue to support the podcast through advertising and sponsorship, but also shaped the podcast itself as we now make a big impact in the independent music industry through offering some of our music marketing Gigs on Fiverr. Not only that, we have also become an influential player in the social media marketing industry by promoting our Fiverr profile through social media platforms and offering the use of our social network to startups, musicians, entrepreneurs, professionals, and other Fiverr sellers to promote their websites and businesses as well.

Over the past six months, I have become more involved with the community. We have invited some of Fiverr’s best sellers onto the podcast, and I was invited to be a guest on the recently introduced Fiverrcast. That was a tremendous honor for me.

“Fiverr allows me to do what I want, when I want, how I want.”

Today, Fiverr allows me to do what I want, when I want, and how I want. It pays my rent, it pays my bills, it feeds me, and it feeds my dog, who loves that I work from home and thanks Fiverr too! I am also now building my savings account and paying off debts, and I still have enough to invest some money back into my business. Without Fiverr, this journey never would have happened, and without Fiverr, I would likely still be working for someone else. Thank you Fiverr!
