Order Completion & Cancellations

Completing orders is how sellers grow their businesses on Fiverr. This article will help explain how Order Completion is tracked, the different kinds of cancellations and steps that Sellers can take to avoid cancellations.

What are Completed Orders?

Completed Orders are orders are completed without cancellations.

How is Order Completion calculated?

The Order Completion formula is the number of cancellations subtracted from 100%.

What are the different kinds of cancellations?

Fiverr Customer Support has detailed information about Fiverr’s cancellations policy. Here are some relevant details for sellers to be aware of:

  • Buyer Requested Cancellations: Buyers can request a cancellation only if order is Late. A buyer requested cancellation can have a negative impact on a seller’s business. This also leaves sellers in a position in which they might have already worked on a Gig that they now won’t receive payment for. For those reasons, this kind of cancellation should be avoided by sending your Gig on time.
  • Mutual Cancellations: This is one way to resolve an order that both parties can’t agree on. If one side requests and the other accepts within 24 hours, it does not impact the seller’s ratings. If a Buyer doesn’t respond within 2 days of a seller initiating a Mutual Cancellation, the Gig is automatically canceled.
  • Admin: If sellers and buyers doesn’t agree to mutual cancellation, then contacting Fiverr Customer Support is the next step.

What to do when…

Sometimes when working on a Gig, you might encounter challenges that make it seem like a cancellation is the best solution. But usually there are better outcomes for a Gig order, even one that is not running smoothly.  So, what should you do when…

You’ve completed a Gig, but the Buyer needs more revisions

Sellers can specify the number of revisions they are willing to do in advance to manage of selling the Gig to manage their Buyers’ expectations. But if a Buyer still wants further revisions beyond what a seller has specified s/he will do, there are 2 ways to proceed:

  • Upsell: Explain to the buyer that you’ve met the maximum number of revisions that you can accommodate for a request. Then, add new Extras to the existing order so that they can approve the additional work to the Gig:

  • Custom Offer: If additional requests from a Buyer drastically change the scope of an existing order, you can offer to deliver the Gig as-is and to send a custom offer with a price quote.

You have multiple Gigs due at the same time

Managing multiple deliverables due on the same day can be challenging. Here are some ideas:

  • Activate Vacation Mode for the rest of the day. This way you won’t get any more orders today.
  • Start Simple. Deliver the easiest order right away.
  • Get it Done. For a larger request, do as much work as you can to the Gig before submitting at the deadline. Even if the finishing touches are missing, by delivering a near-complete draft to the Buyer you won’t risk getting a cancellation and you can make any final tweaks during the revisions stage of the order.

You’re a new seller and you’re nervous about completing your first order.

First of all, welcome! Stay calm. There are lots of resources to help you and answer your questions, for example these tips for New Sellers and the Forum, which is a great place to get support from the community.  You can do it!

In conclusion

Completing your orders is how you grow your business and cancellations are rarely the best solution. In conclusion, aim to:

  • Be Proactive: Clearly communicate all necessary info on your Gig Description, Requirements and Extras in advance of an order to set your transaction up for success before it’s even purchased.

  • Be Prepared: If a Buyer is unresponsive, initiating a Mutual Cancellation might be a way to get the transaction back on track.

  • Review Your Delivery Times: If you’re tempted to cancel because you’re too busy, give yourself more time to deliver the Gigs.
