Early collaborations between Fiverr and XPRIZE focused on empowering a community of talented people to accomplish a project for positive change. By helping to design the coveted XPRIZE 2016 Prize Book, Fiverr’s graphic design sellers illustrated how their skills and the skills of all Fiverr sellers can be leveraged to create almost anything, and it’s spurred even more collaboration.
Choosing a Prize Book Winner
With the field narrowed down to three finalists, the XPRIZE team was left with a tough decision, finally choosing François and his innovative design as the cover for the digital version of their yearly Prize Book.
“François’ design captured many of the driving forces and underlying themes of XPRIZE,” said David Zweig, senior creative director of XPRIZE. “Not only that, but he was also able to weave in some of our most prominent prizes, creating a strong overall concept.”
After deciding upon the design concept, David and his team were able to collaborate with François to create a stunning finished product.
“Working on Fiverr, I have a chance to tackle a variety of interesting projects from across the world,” said François. “This work was really exceptional, both from a creative and empowerment perspective. I’m really looking forward to lending a creative hand on future XPRIZE projects.”

Second place finisher Boris and third place finisher Emily also expressed how great of an opportunity the competition was to be a part of.
“I loved the fact that XPRIZE gives opportunities to everyone by motivating and tapping into their true potential to help solve problems,” Boris said following the prize announcement.
“The XPRIZE contest was an amazing experience where I got to learn and understand how XPRIZE is developing innovative ideas into society,” said Emily. “Overall, I am honored to be one of the finalist and have the opportunity to create a book cover for a well recognized organization.”
Empowering the Fiverr Community to do More
Thanks to François and other finalists, the Fiverr community proved just how talented and capable it is, spurring interest by two XPRIZE competitions to team up with Fiverr. Fiverr’s community will be tapped to help teams competing for the prizes by providing some digital aspects of their work, providing everything from technical app development help to logo creation and voice-over work.
“We were blown away by the quality, the speed and the breadth of what Fiverr’s sellers can accomplish,” Shlomy Kattan, senior director, Prize Operations noted. “It struck us as a no-brainer to involve Fiverr in more of our prizes, especially those aimed at using technology to lower barriers of entry. The two opportunities we saw were with the Global Learning XPRIZE and with the Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE.”
The Global Learning XPRIZE challenges teams from around the world to develop open source and scalable software that will enable children in developing countries to teach themselves basic reading, writing and arithmetic within 18 months. The Barbara Bush Foundation Adult Literacy XPRIZE is challenging teams to develop mobile applications for existing smart devices that result in the greatest increase in literacy skills among participating adult learners in just 12 months. The solutions will overcome key barriers to literacy by improving access, while increasing retention, and scaling to meet demand.
With over 240 teams competing between the two prizes, the Fiverr community will have many opportunities to help these teams as they create solutions to some of the world’s most pressing education problems.
