Graphic designers will be interested to know about Adobe’s just-released app, Adobe Comp CC.
This app is ground-breaking since it proposes that designing on mobile can be even faster than designing on your desktop. To convince designers who have used products like Photoshop on their desktops for decades to switch over to the iPad will need a huge value proposition. That Adobe Comp CC allows for quicker workflows may just be it.
Whenever a company like Adobe starts to introduce new approaches to workflows, it’s always a good thing. At the very least, it will give designers a tool that allows for greater flexibility and encourages them to take advantage of creative inspiration, even if it strikes when they are not sitting in front of a computer.
Adobe’s announcement comes as more and more people are switching over to mobile. According to web analytics company comScore, the number of mobile users has already overtaken the number of desktop users.
Adobe Comp CC is extremely straightforward to use because Adobe has really worked on the user experience. Unlike Photoshop on your desktop, which starts off with a blank page and not much else in the way of intuitive features, the mobile app aims to change all that. Take elementary illustrations, for instance. Crudely drawn circles are automatically corrected to become perfect circles, and a basic tap on your iPad will stretch the circles any way designers want for customization.
In addition, the company is planning to introduce something called the 360-degree Workflow later this year, in conjunction with the app’s release. This Workflow will permit designers who create anything on the new mobile app to effortlessly export it to Photoshop on their desktops, allowing designers to continue a draft that started on mobile once they are back in front of their home computer.
For designers that choose to take advantage of the new app, this means greater freedom and flexibility for creatives than ever before.
