Inside Fiverr: Meet Dima, Front End Developer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dima, one of our “front end developers.” He uses tools like JavaScript, HTML and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) to turn the design for a web page into a working part of the Fiverr® website. Dima’s favorite movie is “Prisoners,” and his favorite band is Red Hot Chili Peppers. He’s also a roller hockey super star!

Who is Dima?

I was born in Ukraine and at the age of three moved to Israel with my family. Around the age of 18, I turned my web development hobby into a real career. At first, I did a lot of freelance work, and when I became confident enough, I got a full time job. Eventually, I became a full time PHP developer, but since I have always been attracted to visual arts, including design, painting and crafting, it was natural for me to get into front end development.

I have been a front end developer at Fiverr since January 2013. Working at Fiverr has been wonderful. I have a cool workspace, and the work is very challenging. I also have the opportunity to work on one of the biggest websites and with some of the most brilliant people in the world. My favorite project was the Fiverr mobile web. I liked having the opportunity to work on something new and dive into the challenging and evolving world of the mobile web!

The thing I like the most about working at Fiverr is the people. Each person has a unique skill set and takes a different approach to their work. They are also fun to be with, which helps foster good communication and a positive work environment.

Besides the awesome people, my main inspiration comes from the daily challenges we face. The beautiful the design work that was done here in our office is also inspiring by itself!

Favorite Gigs

Most of my purchases are gifts, such as a painting on a cup or just a nice painting that I can print and give to someone I like. One of my favorite Gigs® is Sinsin’s “Draw a pixel art game character,” which inspires me because I’m a fan of pixel art.

My favorite experience as a buyer is the great communication with sellers even when the result doesn’t meet my expectations. They have been very understanding, and after I explain what I need a little better, they have delivered another version. That has made the experience very satisfying.
