There’s a lot of aspects to the online marketplace that are unique from a brick and mortar store, but there are also some elements that are very similar.
One thing that a store and online marketplace like Fiverr® have in common is that a great display can make a big difference in attracting customers. Imagine that a buyer is browsing Fiverr, the main thing that will catch their eye is the photographs that you have on your Gig®.
So how do you make sure you stand out from the crowd? Here are 5 photography tips for highlighting and marketing your product or services:
1. The power of a great photo is in your camera!
If at all possible, use a real camera and not a smartphone to snap your picture. A digital camera is fine, no need to get a fancy SLR just for this purpose. Use your camera’s “macro” setting for even better results.
2. Lighting, lighting, and lighting
Natural light is best whether you’re photographing a product or yourself. Try taking your photos at a few different times of day near a natural light source or outside and see what suits you best.
3. Learn to edit your photos
Using basic photo editing software or check out some photo editing Gigs on Fiverr if you need a little help. We’re not saying to alter your images necessarily. However cleaning up your picture by adjusting and tweaking different elements of it can make the final product look more professional and attractive.
4. Avoid flash
Glare is a photo-killer. It’s better to wait until the natural light is right rather than have red-eye or a glaring and distracting object taking away from your photo.
5. Be mindful of your background
If you are photographing yourself, especially if you’re in your home, avoid a cluttered background or other distracting and unprofessional elements. If you can photograph yourself in a space that represents your service (like a recording studio for music Gigs) then even better. A curated space is great, a crowded or messy space is not.
