How I’m Earning More with Gig Packages: Q&A with Akira007

Theo, Akira007 on Fiverr®, is a commercial artist specializing in CreateSpace and eBook covers. With years of experience and a gorgeous portfolio, Theo loved the idea of Fiverr but wanted a way to earn money at a level that reflected his experience. He found it in Gig Packages.

Q: Why do packages work so well for you?

A: Before using packages, I regularly had 7 to 10 cancelled orders a month, sometimes even more, because customers would not read my Gig description carefully and would order a Gig thinking that the complete price was $5. But I could not earn a living at that rate.

My business concept is based on high quality and giving customers a reason to come back to buy from me again, so it is important they receive “good quality, personal treatment, and no copyright issues.” This means that when I use a stock photo in my covers, I have to include the cost of the photo in my fee. That’s why the minimum, including my time, has to be around $15 to $20. Packages let me set a higher base price. This is a great Fiverr feature, and they are very simple to create.

Q: What has the reaction of your customers been to packages?

A: Many of my customers were already willing to pay more for my work if the quality was high, but now they can see clearly what they are getting.

Also, when I had only a $5 Gig, it would take me perhaps two to three hours to make a book cover, and the worst feeling was when a customer would insist on modifications again and again. That made me feel like a slave because they had already received a professional product for $5 – and my income after taxes was not even $2.75! With my package price, I now have no problems making more revisions, which means my customers are even happier. It’s a win-win situation, and I can see this in the feedback I am getting from them.

Q: Are packages helping you grow your business?

A: Yes. Because I can set the package price, I can earn more money. My typical combined price for a cover before was $100. Now I’ve set the package price at $115, and I’ve already had sales of my biggest professional package at a price of $150. I even got a $30 tip! When I first started getting many sales on Fiverr, I remember waking up one morning and seeing 30 orders. Since my delivery time was set to two days, I had to work day and night to get those orders out, all for $150. Now I can sell only one cover and earn the same amount!

With packages, Fiverr is more fun and a better business for me. And today I received three new orders for package deals!
