Collaborating on Fiverr: One Profile, Multiple Artists

Melanie, Calimode on Fiverr®, owns GrowVideo, a Sacramento, Calif.-based video content creation company. She and her producer, Anthony, contract with four other spokesmodels, and they all offer their video Gigs on Fiverr. How does this small business leverage a single Fiverr profile? Read on.

Toward the end of 2013, I was working at Dr. Oz’s HealthCorps, a non-profit organization that teaches under-served high school students an innovative health curriculum using a full-time, on-campus youth mentor. It was a great job, but I wanted to shout the good news about health to the world, so I pitched a YouTube video campaign to the executive team. They loved the idea, but at that time, they didn’t see value in online video marketing and decided not to move forward. I thought maybe I was a bit ahead of my time, but Fiverr showed me there was indeed an immediate market for this.

Finding Fiverr

My colleague and I found Fiverr when we were watching a YouTube video about different ways to make money online, but we liked the idea of collaborating with several spokes-models because it would allow us to accommodate a variety of client needs. So the first year was mostly about refining our video product and working through the pricing options and ensuring our deliverables were on time and of a high quality. Our spokes-models would read a client’s script in our professional studio, and then we would focus on delivering a great product. Our clients loved the videos, which provided them with credibility, a more personal connection with their customers, and social media content, SEO traffic driving content, product demo content, and more!

How we collaborate on Gigs

We definitely had some challenges developing a collaborative payment model that would work for everyone. We tried a few models and had to scrap them. Our goal was always to keep our finances transparent. If anything felt unfair to anyone, we respected that point of view and looked for a more functional model.

I’m happy that we have now found a model that is working well and our team feels fairly compensated. The current model includes the following. The equipment, rent and studio fees are paid for by me, so compensation for that is worked into the model. A large commission goes to my colleague and producer, Anthony, and an hourly payment goes to the spokes-models.

I’m so happy I found Fiverr!

Fiverr has helped us get orders while we are finding our feet as a new company, and we are so grateful for that. Without Fiverr, we would have had to start our company by making cold calls all day! Still, we are doing all we can to grow our business on Fiverr and in real life. We promote our Fiverr Gigs through email and social media. And as a start-up, we are also building our own database.

Fiverr has been a great platform because it has a global reach and has such a variety of buyers. It offered an income, and it validated my concepts for video marketing. I also love the Fiverr forum. When I’ve had questions about how to navigate a situation, it’s common that someone else has been through a similar situation, and often the comments are supportive and informative.

There is also a sense of global community with the Fiverr experience, and it’s exciting to be on the forefront of this new global economy. We drove from Sacramento to San Francisco to go to the Fiverr meet-up. We had so much fun! We met many members of the Fiverr team, and so many of them were from New York and other countries. This is the future, and Fiverr.com is on the cutting edge. We are so happy to be in partnership with Fiverr!
