Here he is to share his story with us.

Paul’s Fiverr Journey

I currently live in London, and thanks to Fiverr, I’m working on a bachelor’s degree in design at University of Arts. Most of my days are split between studying, freelancing on Fiverr and other client work, but I also run a few blogs and host a weekly radio show. I also enjoy cinema, music and keeping healthy.

Several years ago, I started travelling and began looking for websites that would allow me to keep earning money. I came across Fiverr and remembered Fiverr being mentioned quite a lot as a good community for selling services, so I signed up. Signing up was very easy and so was creating my first Gig®.

I’d run numerous websites and was a website tester for a well-known company, which helped me build my analytical skills, so I thought offering a quick review of someone’s website for five dollars would be a really helpful Gig. It turns out I was right. I was very surprised at how quickly I started getting orders, and as soon as the first few positive reviews came in, the rest just took care of itself. Now I’ve tested every type of website you can imagine, from wing warmers for chickens to a New York escort service.

I’ve also expanded my Gigs to include recording promotional videos, online marketing consultation, image resizing, audio/video conversion, designing book covers, and even voiceovers.

Upgrading my hardware a few years ago really helped my business. For example, after I purchased a broadcast-quality mic, people loved the sound quality so much that many buyers asked me to do voiceover work. My biggest jump in the growth of a Gig came from including a video of myself describing the Gig. I think people seeing me and hearing me talk about my Gig really helps them understand exactly what they will be getting for $5.

Advice for Newcomers

For a newcomer starting out now, I think you really need to offer something that sets you apart from the rest. Your first few reviews are the most important, so go above and beyond on those orders to make sure you get glowing reviews. Also, think about how you present your Gig. A Gig video is essential, so rent some good camera equipment and record a quick video. It worked wonders for my Gig. Reinvest any money that you do earn from Fiverr back into the equipment you use so that you can offer an even better service. Finally, look at your competition every week. Review the other Gigs in your category and see what people are offering and whether you can do something better than they can.

The Impact of Fiverr

Fiver has had a huge impact on my life. Thanks to Fiverr I was able to earn money while I traveled around Asia for two and a half years. Also, in the past, I had to work part-time to help cover the cost of attending university, but now all of my income comes from Fiverr. It’s really great because I get to work from home, which makes it easier to switch between work and study. No more hours wasted commuting! And I earn more than I ever would from a part-time job.

Being able to earn a good living and do it remotely from anywhere in the world is what I have always wanted. Ever since traveling in Asia, I’ve looked for a way to unchain myself from the desk and have the freedom to do what I want. Fiverr has also had a big influence on my career. After receiving so many positive reviews from my Gig, it was obvious I had some skill in design and user experience. It is because of this, and the fact that I could earn an income from home, that I decided to quit my job and go back to school!
