Stress is something that everyone deals with at some point in his or her life and nearly anything can cause it. We understand that the demands of everyday life can be taxing on your body and mind and sometimes make you feel as though you aren’t able to focus on other things. Simply because you are stressed out about that big project your client requested at the last minute or if you forgot to pay the bill that was due last week. Finding ways to relax, de-stress and focus can be very hard to do, especially if you are stuck in a continuous cycle of stress. We’re here to help you shed your stress with some effective ways on how you can de-stress and focus on the things that matter most.
Do Your Favorite Hobby And Take a Break
Take a break from your source of stress. This doesn’t mean you move away from what is causing your stress and multi-task on another project. Instead, take a few moments in between the stressful activity and do your favorite hobby. For example, if you’ve been up late working on a stressful project, take a break every hour and do the thing you love to do the most. Whether that is writing, knitting, shooting some hoops, and playing a videogame. It is important to get some time to do things you like to do and take a break from the source of your stress.
Take A Walk
This may sound a bit too simple but some of the world’s greatest minds, like former Apple CEO Steve Jobs would take long walks and think about life, figure out what to do next, and to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Physically moving away from your source of stress, walking and mapping out your plan of attack for anything will help you to de-stress and focus. Taking a walk will get you into new surroundings and let your mind think about things other than the cause of stress.
Turn Off Computers and Smartphones and Use more Natural Light
Often times, stress stems from an external source. This means that it is coming from somewhere or someone that is currently not in your immediate surroundings such as an email or notification on your mobile phone. Constantly looking at computers and smartphones can cause stress because it is constantly vying for your attention and draws you away from your current activity, making it feel as though you are doing a number of tasks at one time. Hence, the source of your stress. In addition to this, the artificial light causes unnecessary eyestrain and headaches if used for long periods of time. Turn off your smartphones and computers and try to get some more natural lighting wherever you are sitting. This will help your body to focus on one thing at a time, de-stress, and keep your mind away from your constant source of stress.
